ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The fourth and final night of the residency was announced as a “special performance,” which turned out to be the world premiere of the new Gorillaz album The Mountain.
The concert featured a strict no-phones policy, with staff sealing audience devices to keep the music and visuals completely secret until the official release.
Every track from The Mountain was performed live in sequence, combining electronic, world, and orchestral sounds.
The show opened with “The Mountain,” featuring Anoushka Shankar on sitar and flute player Ajay Prasanna, creating a cinematic and spiritual tone.
It marked one of the most international Gorillaz lineups ever, with guest appearances spanning Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas.
Visuals by Jamie Hewlett debuted throughout the night, showing surreal desert landscapes and new animated versions of the band.
Damon Albarn referred to the concert as “a ritual, not a gig,” emphasizing the album’s spiritual and environmental themes.
Tony Allen and Mark E. Smith appeared posthumously via pre-recorded vocals and visual tributes integrated into the live show.
Fans and press described the experience as “the most ambitious Gorillaz performance ever,” with a mix of theater, film, and concert elements.
The night concluded with “The Sad God,” during which all guests returned to the stage for a collective instrumental finale.
