ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The performance took place on September 20, 2025, at the Pulse of Gaia Festival in Madrid — marking Gorillaz’s only live appearance outside the UK in 2025.
The festival itself was a new eco-conscious event blending music, art, and environmental activism. It partnered with Re:wild, an organization founded by Leonardo DiCaprio, to raise awareness about biodiversity and climate action.
Gorillaz headlined the first edition of the festival, making it one of the most anticipated live shows of the year in Europe.
The show celebrated the 25th anniversary of Gorillaz, with a setlist spanning their entire discography — from Gorillaz (2001) to the then-upcoming The Mountain (2025).
Jamie Hewlett designed exclusive stage visuals inspired by nature, evolution, and the “Gaia” theme — combining animation, live footage, and surreal eco-imagery.
Damon Albarn performed with the full live band lineup, including longtime collaborators such as Mike Smith, Seye Adelekan, and Gabriel Wallace.
The concert featured immersive LED installations and augmented-reality projections, turning the stage into a dynamic “living ecosystem.”
Several songs were rearranged with organic percussion and orchestral elements, in line with the festival’s “living planet” concept.
Albarn dedicated the show to “our planet and the fragile harmony that keeps it alive,” closing with O Green World and On Melancholy Hill.
The event was praised for uniting environmental themes with Gorillaz’s visual identity — a fusion of art, activism, and performance that reflected the spirit of both the band and the festival.
