ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
• Albarn celebrates Gorillaz's 25th anniversary and describes it as a kind of public "second life," alongside his time with Blur.
• About that album: it includes posthumous collaborations (old recordings by deceased artists) and addresses themes of loss, memory, and celebrating life. Albarn comments that part of the artistic process was revisiting previously unused recordings.
• Regarding multilingualism and cultural fusion: the album features songs in at least six or seven languages (English, Spanish, Arabic, Hindi, Russian, Yoruba, and a Manchester dialect). Albarn links this to his own global work with musicians from around the world.
• About Gorillaz's House of Kong exhibition: he confirmed it will be coming to Mexico "sometime next year."
• He commented that his last visit to Mexico with Blur wasn't entirely successful: he suffered from food poisoning just before the show and hopes to return "full force."
• He also talked about the concept of the song TheManifesto: he describes it as “the antithesis of TikTok,” a musical journey that questions the commercial and seeks a freer space for music.
• He also mentions that when he was younger, he was inspired by the sounds of Mexico ("the cumbia of Monterrey" and the underground vibe) and that the music scene changes drastically over time.
• On the ritual of loss: he recounted his experience in India, in Varanasi, by the Ganges, as part of the inspiration to address loss and death from another culture for his album.
