Africa Express @ Roskilde 2025

Africa Express does it again! The extraordinary project has previously given us unforgettable experiences at Roskilde Festival. Now they return with a new album and a large-scale show; as always with a mind-blowing line-up and once again with mastermind Damon Albarn as host.

The project has been hailed as one of the most revolutionary developments in recent popular music. A project that not only bridges the gap between different currents and cultures in African music, but also connects some of today's progressive African artists with artists from other parts of popular culture.

Africa Express was initiated 20 years ago by Damon Albarn, who is not only one of the most important songwriters of his generation with bands like Blur and Gorillaz, but also a musician with a longstanding passion for African music. Since then, Africa Express has created unique shows on festival stages all over the world, always with spectacular line-ups that make each concert a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Africa Express has visited Roskilde Festival several times, most recently in 2022. When they return to the festival, it will be with a two-hour show based on a new album that will be released this summer and was created during a stay in Mexico. This rubs off on the star-studded line-up, which features familiar faces as well as groundbreaking African artists and progressive voices from across the globe – all directed by the incomparable Damon Albarn. In other words, the stage is once again set for a concert experience far beyond the ordinary.
